How do I order Workplace Manager iForms? There are several ways to get started with the product. You may contact WPM to ask any questions you may have and place an order. Or, you may place an order using the convenient order form here at the Web site. If you prefer, you can leave your contact information on the Feedback page at this Web site.Back to TopWhat are the installation requirements?Workplace Manager iForms requires installation on a MS IIS Web server at your location. Workstations only need a standard Web browser.Back to TopWhat language and database are used in Workplace Manager iForms?Workplace Manager iForms is written using both Microsoft Visual Basic and VBScript in Active Server Page programs. The database can operate with either a Microsoft Access or SQL Server database structure. Please refer to the Workplace Manager C/S product on the Products page if you do not require a Web-based application.Back to TopWho should be using Workplace Manager iForms?Workplace Manager iForms was written specifically for the Information Technology departments of companies. Usually, IT departments have a number of installed non-integrated products: Word processors are used for status reporting, messages are sent via an email system, large projects are scheduled in a project scheduler, spreadsheets are used for time reporting, and accounting systems are used for chargeback. Workplace Manager provides a solution to consolidate the project database and integrate these applications. The integration includes support for spreadsheet and document attachments, and the ability to directly exchange project information (WBS, estimate, and assignment information) with the MS Project products.Back to TopHow long does it take to get up and running?Workplace Manager iForms requires installation on your intranet Web server. The database and administrative software can be installed on a different server if you prefer. An initial user ID is supplied to enable you to sign on to the system and define your own users and the security options you want for them. You may then, optionally, go to the customize menu item to enable special custom data fields to fit your needs, change the data field labels, create your dropdown values, and establish filters to meet your requirements. You may further wish to customize each form as well as add special logic for your organization. Workplace Manager is then ready for you to start entering work requests. These can be directly entered or loaded from MS Project into the Workplace Manager database. Typically, most companies spend a few days checking out the options available, customize some features, then start entering work requests and reporting time. The sooner you install the system, the sooner you will get the benefits of the information it can provide you.Back to TopWhat other products compete with Workplace Manager iForms? The most common competitors to Workplace Manager are either a manual system or a patchwork of products. Most IT departments just seem to be too busy working on user requests and projects to streamline their own work processes. Some companies will decide to write a system in-house. But, even after spending significant resources the software usually sees a short life span since the time needed to maintain it is usually spent working on the things IT departments are supposed to work on --- user requests and projects!Project management tools are great for handling the task definition and scheduling of large projects, but time reporting is usually very difficult and cross-project analysis and resource loading are difficult to see. Personal calendars and time card systems don't provide the necessary links to the work request itself, making it difficult to schedule work in the context of other tasks to be done and to see the amount of effort spent on the requests. Integration of all work activities with resource schedules and time reporting is necessary to provide management with information needed to optimize productivity and quality. Back to TopWhat type of training is required and available from WPM LLC?All trainings are custom fitted to each customer based on their need and the features they have installed. Normally, telephone training sessions are all that is required. After trainings, additional questions may be answered by calling the support number.
